I, R.K.Pachnanda, welcome all of you as the new Commissioner of Police. This is a great responsibility bestowed on me and it is my proud privilege to be able to serve this great city and its citizens.

My association with Kolkata Police goes back to 1997, when I joined the city police as Deputy Commissioner (Special Branch) after my stint with the Central Bureau of Investigation. Thereafter I was Deputy Commissioner of Police, South, for nearly three and a half years. In the present stint, I have been with the Kolkata Police since 2008 as Addl. Commissioner of Police and then as the Special Commissioner of Police, Kolkata.

The immediate task for Kolkata Police is to facilitate a free and fair election. We will leave no stone unturned to create an atmosphere where you feel confident and secure to exercise your invaluable franchise.

Kolkata Police is totally committed to the people of this city of joy. Having donned the uniform, we are on duty 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The safety, security and convenience of the people comes first, always and every time and our own comfort comes last, always and every time. Since the public are equal stake holders in a peaceful Kolkata, we want their unflinching support to assist us in this earnest endeavor by following our security advisories and informing of anything untoward or any strange or suspicious activity. Our enduring effort in the quest for a peaceful Kolkata has to be joint. We have every confidence that this combined resolve will keep Kolkata safe.
